How do I apply for a scholarship?
Scholarships are available to students who live in and are seeking services in Harvey, Sedgwick, or Butler Counties in Kansas. Services must be provided by a qualified private Literacy Intervention Specialist or Certified Academic Language Therapist.

-
To apply for a scholarship for a K–12 student, please complete the 2025–2026 Student Application.
-
To apply for a scholarship for Literacy Specialist Training, please complete the 2025 Therapist Application.
All application information is kept confidential and reviewed only by the BLI Board of Directors and the BLI Scholarship Committee. Data is shared solely for the purposes of qualification analysis and award determination.
How much of a scholarship can I expect?
BLI strives to offer support that reflects both the total scholarship demand and each applicant’s demonstrated financial need. While we aim to assist all qualified applicants to some degree, awards are ultimately determined based on the applicant's economic situation.
What are the requirements to maintain and renew my student's scholarship?
Scholarships are paid directly to the Literacy Specialist working with the student. Regular attendance is expected throughout the recommended therapy program. Failure to attend appointments may jeopardize continued support.
Scholarship awards are based on the assumption that students will attend sessions regularly through the end of the Spring semester.
Returning applicants:
-
A new application is not required for Spring 2026.
-
A new application is required for the Summer program beginning June 2026.
